Why You Need a Marketing Plan
What’s your core message? Do you know where you want your business to be in one, three or five years? You do, you say—it’s in your business plan.
Once your business plan is in place, your marketing plan follows quickly behind. The marketing plan is what drives your core mission. It is the steering wheel of your business plan. It helps you achieve your business goals.
How will your business grow? Not just by opening up your doors. Just like a carpenter needs tools to construct a house, your business needs marketing tools to build your business and keep it sturdy.
A Plan For Repeat Business
Your marketing plan should detail how you plan to communicate with your customers, and get them to your business and ensure they come back again and again.
For example, if your customers don’t know you exist, work on public relations and advertising. If your customers don’t know what you are doing these days—communicate via newsletters. If your customers confuse you with another, similar company—it’s time for a brochure to explain who you are and why your business is the better choice. If customers can’t easily visit your store—develop a Web site.
